AMD is intensifying its collaboration with Pearl Abyss, the developer of the highly anticipated open-world game Crimson Desert, in a strategic move to challenge NVIDIA’s dominance in the global GPU market. The partnership extends beyond simple promotional bundles, aiming to showcase the capabilities of AMD’s hardware through a leading game title.

On February 12, AMD began highlighting Crimson Desert on its official website, describing the game as “more than just a game – it’s an evolution of gaming.” This approach connects the hardware experience directly to a specific game, moving away from traditional marketing focused solely on CPU and GPU performance metrics.

The collaboration includes a bundle promotion running from February 10 to April 25, offering free game codes for Crimson Desert to purchasers of Ryzen processors, Radeon RX graphics cards, or related systems. AMD explained that this bundle is designed to demonstrate the performance of its hardware in handling large-scale environments and combat scenarios with high-resolution visuals.

This partnership builds on a strategic collaboration formalized in September 2023, where AMD and Pearl Abyss agreed to work together on optimizing the gaming experience and ensuring a successful global launch for Crimson Desert. The move signals a growing trend of hardware manufacturers aligning with game developers to deliver optimized experiences and showcase technological advancements.

AMD previously showcased Crimson Desert at Gamescom 2024, utilizing AMD PCs to demonstrate the game’s impressive graphics powered by AMD’s high-performance computing solutions. A private demonstration was also held at the AMD booth during Gamescom 2023, generating early interest in the game’s visual fidelity. Read more about the Gamescom collaboration here.

The collaboration with Pearl Abyss and Crimson Desert represents a “content alliance-type market share strategy” for AMD, aiming to simultaneously demonstrate hardware performance and establish a leading position in the gaming ecosystem. Further details on AMD’s strategy are available here.
