Indonesia’s anti-corruption agency, KPK, has named Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari a suspect following his arrest in a sting operation. Thobari is accused of involvement in bribery related to procurement projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency government.
“Currently, we are investigating allegations of receiving funds by the Regent and from several private parties acting as project implementers, concerning bribery related to project ‘ijon’ within the Rejang Lebong Regency government,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
The KPK has not yet detailed the specifics of the case against Thobari, but plans to hold a press conference revealing further information on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

“We will certainly delve into the practices of procuring goods and services within the Rejang Lebong Regency government, including the flow of funds and whether other parties are suspected of receiving funds related to projects in the Rejang Lebong Regency government,” Prasetyo explained. The case underscores the ongoing efforts to combat corruption within local governments in Indonesia.
Prasetyo added that investigators seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash during the operation, along with other evidence including documents.
“In this sting operation, in addition to securing individuals, the KPK also secured electronic evidence and cash totaling hundreds of millions of rupiah,” he said.
The KPK has named five suspects in the alleged bribery case within the Rejang Lebong Regency government, including Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.
“Regarding the investigative activities in the Bengkulu region, an exposure was conducted this afternoon at the leadership level and a decision was made regarding the legal status of those secured, where the KPK has named five individuals as suspects in these investigative activities,” Prasetyo stated.
Of the five suspects, three are from the giving side, while two are accused of receiving bribes.
“Five individuals have been designated as suspects: three as the givers and two as the receivers,” Prasetyo clarified.
“Yes, one of the suspects is Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari,” he confirmed.
