Resident Evil 3: Last Escape aims to deliver the remake fans have long awaited. Following a mixed reception to the 2020 release of Resident Evil 3 Remake, many players expressed disappointment with the significant content cuts from the original game, including iconic areas such as the Park, the Cemetery, and the Abandoned Factory.

Now, a modder is undertaking what Capcom left unfinished, developing Resident Evil 3: Last Escape, a “complete reimagining” focused on restoring and expanding the original content. The project intends to not only recover lost areas but also add new locations and redesign gameplay systems to offer a darker, more survival-focused experience.

The modder’s work includes the reintroduction of locations like the Clock Tower and the Park, alongside expanded encounters with the villain Nemesis and other bosses. The crafting system is being overhauled, including new types of gunpowder, and the traditional save system from Resident Evil 2 Remake is being incorporated. With new puzzles and a more expansive city, Last Escape aims to be the definitive version the series deserves. The project demonstrates the power of the modding community to address shortcomings in commercial releases and enhance player experiences.

Currently in development, the mod is in an alpha state, with the creator consistently updating progress. If Capcom permits, and the work is completed, this project could redefine the Resident Evil 3 experience for fans.
