Resident Evil Requiem has proven to be a critical and commercial success since its launch, and the numbers confirm it: the game has surpassed 6 million copies sold worldwide as of February 27th.
This data comes from a press release issued by Capcom earlier today, which emphasizes that Requiem is the fastest-selling title in the series to reach this milestone, setting a new record for future installments to compete with. The continued success of the Resident Evil franchise demonstrates the enduring appeal of survival horror in the gaming market.
Capcom Plans Celebrations for the Series’ 30th Anniversary
Notably, the game had already reached 5 million units sold on March 4th. approximately one million additional copies were sold in less than two weeks. The series as a whole has reached 183 million units sold as of the end of December, and Requiem appears poised to push the franchise toward the 200 million mark.
In the release, in addition to celebrating the new chapter’s success, Capcom reminded fans that Resident Evil will celebrate its 30th anniversary on March 22nd. To mark the occasion, the company announced several celebratory projects, “including a collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem in 2026, as well as orchestral concerts in Japan, the United States, and Europe.”
director Koshi Nakanishi recently confirmed that the team is working on new additional content for Requiem, including a photo mode, a mini-game, and a story expansion.
