A popular couple on the long-running TVB drama 愛．回家之開心速遞 (A Home with Love and Happiness) has been unexpectedly split up, sparking speculation that one of the actors may be leaving the show. The situation highlights the often-shifting dynamics within the world of Hong Kong television.
The storyline involving “Rebecca” Shen Kexin and “Zhang Long” Huang Yaohuang, a couple whose romance has unfolded over more than 1,000 episodes, took a dramatic turn in a recent broadcast. The pair were initially depicted getting married, but the plot quickly shifted when “Zhang Long” suddenly found himself in debt for 30 million Hong Kong dollars, leading him to take a job as a pole dancer to pay it off. “Rebecca,” attempting to save her fiancé, put herself in danger, but ultimately realized “Zhang Long” was more amused by her predicament than concerned for her safety, leading her to end the relationship.
The abrupt change has led fans to believe Huang Yaohuang may be departing the series. When asked about the situation, Huang Yaohuang stated, “I am currently just focusing on the work at hand, concentrating on acting, and leaving other matters to the company to arrange.” When pressed about whether he was leaving the show, he responded, “Not at the moment,” a statement that suggests further changes may be coming.
In other news from the series, Qin Qiwai, who left the show last year as “Sai Lik,” has reportedly entered the short-form video industry in mainland China. He stated he was invited by a well-known short video production company in Wuhan to participate in filming and lead acting workshops, sharing his experience and training from drama school and years of television work. He also noted he has been learning about the development of AI technology with the local team.
Qin Qiwai added that he plans to continue acting and pursue a career in drama education, and is also preparing to launch his own podcast channel.
