Dutch TV Presenter Rob Verlinden, 75, Moves to Assisted Living Facility

Rob Verlinden, a well-known television presenter in the Netherlands, has recently moved into an assisted living facility, according to reports on February 8, 2026. The 75-year-traditional, best known for hosting the show “Eigen Huis & Tuin” (Own House & Garden), requires 24-hour supervision due to health challenges.

Verlinden has been living with Parkinson’s disease for several years. More recently, he began experiencing significant balance issues, necessitating a move to a care facility where he can receive continuous support. “I must be monitored 24 hours a day, and my daughter had to constantly arrange for someone to be in the house when I was alone,” Verlinden explained in an interview.

The presenter, who also received a prostate cancer diagnosis years ago, emphasized his desire to remain positive despite his health struggles. “At 75, I can handle anything, I can choose what I die from. But I hope to maintain my sense of humor. It’s important that people don’t experience sorry for me,” he stated.

Verlinden previously relied on his daughter for care, but his condition became too risky for him to remain at home independently. He has experienced multiple falls, including incidents in the shower, though fortunately, he hasn’t suffered any broken bones.

Despite the challenges, Verlinden reports feeling comfortable in the assisted living facility. “It’s a care home, which means they do everything for you,” he said. “The people there are incredibly kind. I haven’t really had to adjust.” This move underscores the growing need for accessible and supportive care solutions as populations age and chronic conditions become more prevalent.

RTL Boulevard reports that Verlinden is adjusting well to his new environment.

Further details about his health, including a previous prostate cancer diagnosis, have also emerged.

De Telegraaf also reported on Verlinden’s move.
