Newark Police Seek Suspect in Monday Morning Robbery
Newark police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect connected to a robbery that occurred yesterday morning.
At approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, September 22, officers responded to a call reporting a robbery in the 100 block of Walnut Street, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. The victim, a man walking toward Pacific Street, was reportedly struck from behind and lost consciousness. Robberies like these can leave victims with lasting physical and emotional trauma.
Officials stated the suspect stole the victim’s cell phone and a green Puma book bag containing a Bank of America debit card and other personal items. Detectives describe the suspect as a Black male wearing a black jacket with a reflective strip over the hood, a yellow shirt with sleeves, black pants, and carrying a skateboard. Anyone with information about similar incidents in the area can also report them through the Newark Police Department’s online reporting portal.
