Rodrigo Lussich: Symptoms, Possible Asthma & Grief Over Producer’s Death

Rodrigo Lussich revealed on Wednesday that he’s been experiencing several concerning symptoms that have prompted him to seek medical attention. The television personality shared the news during a live broadcast, explaining that the discomfort has become more noticeable in recent weeks.

The conversation began on Intrusos (América) as Lussich reminisced about his recent vacation in Spain and the chilly European winter. With his signature humor, he stated, “I discovered, thanks to my aunt Mirta, that I’m asthmatic. She told me I need to gain checked out.”

Lussich then elaborated on his family history. “I have a family history of asthma – all my aunts and great-aunts were asthmatic,” he explained, adding with a laugh, “I always avoided it because I never had a diagnosis because the hippies never took me to the doctor.”

He continued, detailing his current condition: “It turns out that with all the exertion, it was terrible at the start of the show yesterday.” He added with a note of relief, “I’m feeling a little better today, because nerves also play a role after some time away from the screen, because one has their insecurities.”

Before moving on with the show, Lussich clarified, “That’s my aunt’s diagnosis, now I’m going to get it checked out and take advantage of the health insurance, which is worth a fortune, to consult with a pulmonologist.”

Rodrigo Lussich Reflects on Late Friend and Producer Meche Portillo

On Monday, Rodrigo Lussich opened his traditional “Escandalones” segment on Intrusos with a poignant tribute to his friend and producer, Mercedes “Meche” Portillo, who passed away on November 27th.

“The first item has an emotional side. It’s filled with emotion. It’s called Meche en el Barro,” Lussich began, visibly moved.

The host didn’t hide his grief, sharing the deep connection he had with Meche: “Those who watch Intrusos know that Meche is our friend, she’s my friend of a lifetime, my other half… She died at the conclude of November. She got sick very quickly, she died in four days. We honored her here.”

Lussich explained that his recent trip to Europe, where he performed in theatrical productions, was instrumental in processing his grief: “I’m mourning her, but if I had stayed here in Buenos Aires, I would have had a more challenging summer, surely.” He added, “From a distance, I mourned her in ways I couldn’t have here during the most unexpected moments. I thought about her a lot, and I started to dream about her.”

The host explained he had been eagerly awaiting the premiere of the second season of En el Barro, the Netflix series in which Meche acted but didn’t live to see: “The series that Meche filmed and didn’t get to see.”
