Belgian journalist Ruben Van Gucht kicked off the new season of the reality TV show “Komen eten” (Arrive Dine With Me) on Monday evening, and while his cooking skills impressed his guests with the help of chef Piet Huysentruyt, it was his dedication to cleanliness that really stood out.
Van Gucht, 39, is known for his meticulous housekeeping. “I am a big fan of cleaning,” he said, according to Nieuwsblad. He even revealed he mops his floors four to five times a day.
However, the premiere wasn’t without its awkward moments. Reports suggest Van Gucht’s hosting style didn’t entirely win over his guests. “It was very cozy, until you arrived,” one guest reportedly said, as detailed in Het Nieuwsblad.
Despite the “tooters and bells” of his preparations, Van Gucht apparently didn’t come across as the perfect host. The show, a popular format in Belgium, pits celebrities against each other in a culinary competition hosted in their own homes. This season’s premiere has already sparked conversation about the pressures of presenting a flawless image on reality television.
Van Gucht himself admitted he’d rather dine out. “Nice, but I still prefer to go to a restaurant,” he stated, according to Nieuwsblad.
