Following her impressive victory at Indian Wells, Aryna Sabalenka began her Florida campaign against Ann Li. The Belarusian defeated the World No. 39, 7-6(5), 6-4, after a match lasting over 90 minutes.
Sabalenka will now face Caty McNally, ranked 72nd in the WTA, in Miami. McNally previously secured wins against Rebeka Masarova (6-2, 7-5), and Xinyu Wang (6-4, 1-6, 6-0) to reach this stage. The question now is whether the American can challenge the top-ranked player in a similar fashion to her compatriot earlier in the tournament.
