Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, is reportedly set to join Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and speculation is building that she may portray Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Initial reports from industry expert Jeff Sneider suggested this possibility, though it initially seemed unexpected for Marvel Girl to debut within a Spider-Man film.

Since then, discussion about Sink’s role has dominated fan conversations. While some theories pointed to the character of Shathra, rumors emerged suggesting that name was a deliberate misdirection. Other names circulating included Rachel Cole-Alves, Firestar, and Spider-Girl.

According to reports, the Department of Damage Control will be tracking Sink’s character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and following Avengers: Secret Wars, they will be tasked with controlling the mutant population – potentially utilizing resources seized from Stark Industries to create Sentinels.

Sink is already confirmed to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, which lends further weight to the Jean Grey theory. On February 26, 2026, reliable insider @Cryptic4KQual shared that Sadie Sink will indeed play Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

While not yet “officially” confirmed, this source is considered one of the most credible to link Sink to the role. With mutants slowly appearing in the main timeline (Ms. Marvel, Namor, and Wonder Man), it’s possible we’ll meet the Earth-616 version of Jean Grey as her powers develop, potentially positioning her as a member of the team by the time the X-Men reboot arrives. This casting decision comes as the MCU continues to expand its roster of iconic characters.

Sink previously discussed her involvement, stating, “Oh, it was crazy. I found out while we were finishing the fifth season [of Stranger Things]. Spider-Man has always been my favorite… Being a fan of something and then joining This proves a familiar feeling for me… I also worked with the director, Destin Daniel Cretton, on one of the first movies I did when I was 14, so it feels like coming full circle.”

“That’s why keeping secrets from Stranger Things feels easy,” she added, “because I have so many Spider-Man secrets on top of that that feel even more closely guarded.”

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to be released online next month.

Set four years after the events of the last film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds Peter Parker absent, with Spider-Man continuing to protect New York City. Things are going well for the anonymous hero until a strange trail of crimes leads him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced.

To face what’s coming, Spider-Man will need to be at his physical and mental peak, and prepared to confront the repercussions of his past!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is helming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, working from a script by franchise regulars Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Tom Holland stars as Spider-Man, alongside Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Zendaya (MJ), Sadie Sink, Michael Mando (The Scorpion), Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III (Tombstone), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), and Liza Colón-Zayas. Florence Pugh is also expected to reprise her role as Yelena Belova from Thunderbolts*.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for theatrical release on July 31, 2026.

Origen de mutantes en Tierra-616 a través de Spider-Man: El factor Jean Grey

Introducing Jean Grey through a Spider-Man film suggests a narrative strategy where mutants aren’t presented as a fully formed group, but as individuals manifesting their powers in a world already watching. The pursuit by the Department of Damage Control (DODC) organically links Jean to the legal and technological conflicts of the post-Endgame era, positioning her as a fugitive.

This approach allows audiences to empathize with the burden of being a mutant from a grounded, urban perspective, setting the stage for the formation of the X-Men to feel like a matter of survival rather than just another superhero team.

La conexión Parker-Grey y la sombra de los Sentinelas en Spider-Man 4

Having Peter Parker cross paths with Jean Grey while the DODC utilizes Stark technology to hunt them adds a layer of personal guilt to Spider-Man’s arc. Peter, grappling with his own identity in a world that has forgotten him, will find a reflection in a young woman whose powers make her a state target.

The potential appearance of Sentinels, built from the technological legacy of Tony Stark, would represent the ultimate perversion of the resources Peter once protected. This alliance would not only strengthen the bond between street-level heroes and the mutant race, but establish Sadie Sink as a key piece of the MCU heading into the multiversal battle against Doctor Doom.
