Samsung has officially announced that the Quick Share function on Galaxy phones will support Apple’s file-sharing technology, meaning seamless file sending and receiving between Samsung mobiles and iPhones is finally becoming a reality.
Google first introduced AirDrop support with the Pixel 10 series last November, and the feature is gradually expanding to more Android devices, though implementation ultimately depends on individual manufacturers. Samsung has moved quickly, rolling out the necessary update to the Galaxy S26 series, which will be available globally soon.
The Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra are now officially compatible with Apple devices’ AirDrop file-sharing system via the Quick Share function. This means sending and receiving files between the two platforms will be as simple as doing so between two Android or two iOS devices. This development addresses a long-standing pain point for users of both ecosystems, streamlining cross-platform collaboration.
Samsung isn’t stopping with the Galaxy S26 models, with many additional phones also set to receive AirDrop support in the near future. This is expected to arrive with updates to the One UI 8.5. The current system will be rolled out to older phones including the Galaxy S22 models, the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy A33, and the Galaxy A53.
