Easier File Sharing Between Android and iPhone
Samsung plans to introduce support for Apple’s AirDrop in the Galaxy S26 series, making it significantly easier to share files between Android and Apple devices.
Samsung is working to streamline file sharing between Android and iOS devices. According to reports, the Galaxy S26 series will gain compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop through Google’s Quick Share functionality. This integration will allow Galaxy phones to appear directly within the AirDrop menu on iPhones.
The development was confirmed by Samsung’s mobile chief, Choi Won-jun, during an event in Japan. The feature is slated to debut with the Galaxy S26 in the near future, with a broader rollout planned for additional Galaxy models, though a specific timeline has not yet been disclosed.
Similar functionality is already available on Google’s Pixel phones. While the file transfer requires AirDrop to be set to receive files from everyone, the solution is expected to be a more seamless experience than previous methods. Samsung’s move marks the latest step by a major Android manufacturer to open up direct file transfer capabilities with Apple’s ecosystem, and further adoption from other manufacturers is anticipated.
