Samsung is expanding its Galaxy AI capabilities with the addition of Perplexity, an AI agent that will debut with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The integration marks a significant step toward offering users a wider range of AI-powered tools directly within their smartphones, reflecting a growing trend of multi-agent AI systems.
Users will be able to activate Perplexity using the voice command “Hey Plex” or by pressing and holding the side button on their device, according to announcements made by the company. This new AI agent will perform across core Samsung applications, including Samsung Notes, Calendar, Reminders, Gallery, and Clock.
The integration will too extend to select third-party apps, enabling “multi-step workflows,” though specific partners have not yet been disclosed. Samsung first introduced Galaxy AI with the Galaxy S24 series in 2024, initially partnering with Google. Rumors of a potential collaboration with Perplexity circulated throughout 2025 before being officially confirmed.
Samsung stated that the expansion to multiple AI agents is driven by user demand, with eight out of ten users preferring more than two AI assistants on their phones. The company also confirmed It’s updating its voice assistant, Bixby, with AI features through One UI 8.5, allowing it to adjust device settings and retrieve information from the web.
Further details regarding supported devices and experiences are expected to be revealed at an Unpacked event scheduled for February 25. The Galaxy S26 series will also include a new privacy filter that dims the screen when viewed from an angle, as well as AI-powered image editing features.
