Galaxy Watch 7 Series Receives One UI 8 Update Based on Wear OS 6

The One UI 8 update, based on Wear OS 6, is now rolling out to the Galaxy Watch 7 series in the United States and South Korea, bringing new features and improvements to Samsung’s smartwatch lineup.

The update, which began its wider release yesterday, includes changes to the user interface with new stacking tiles and easier app management. This builds upon the initial Wear OS 6 launch with the Galaxy Watch 8 and a prior open beta program for the Watch 7. The rollout currently applies to both the 40mm and 44mm models of the Galaxy Watch 7; the Galaxy Watch Ultra received a similar update in July 2025.

Samsung initially promised the One UI 8 update in August 2025, and has delivered on that commitment with little delay. The changelog details standard update language, and doesn’t offer any new information beyond what was previously seen on the Watch 8 series. Smartwatch software updates are crucial for maintaining device security and functionality, and often introduce new health and fitness tracking capabilities. For more information on Wear OS, visit the official Wear OS website.

Users can expect the One UI 8 update to expand to additional regions in the coming days and weeks. Samsung has not yet provided a specific timeline for the global rollout, but is expected to continue expanding availability soon. The Galaxy Watch 7 series is reportedly getting a One UI 8 update based on Wear OS 6 in certain regions, marking the start of a wider rollout to more Galaxy Watch devices.

One UI 8 brings a number of changes to the Galaxy Watch series. Namely, the addition of UI elements like new stacking tiles and easier app management changes the feel of the watch series. The Wear OS 6 update initially launched with the Galaxy Watch 8, though the Watch 7 and others were able to join an open beta prior to a wider rollout.

  • Update 10/14: Users are starting to report that the One UI 8 stable update has begun rolling out to devices in the US. This comes one day after launching in Korea. Given that timeframe, it could be seen hitting Galaxy Watch 7 series devices in Europe shortly, though there is no confirmed data to suggest so.

That larger stable release is starting today, according to a post on Twitter/X by @tarunvats33. The post shows a screenshot of the One UI 8 changelog for the Galaxy Watch 7, though it appears limited to Korea. That’s likely to change, and something that’s more than expected.

The changelog offers no new information that diverges from the One UI 8 we’re familiar with on the Watch 8 series. The notes detail basic update language, nothing entirely specific.

The One UI 8 Watch update seems to be specific to the Galaxy Watch 7 in both models—40 mm and 44mm. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is not part of this rollout phase because it already received an update in July 2025. That leaves two basic models in this phase.

Samsung promised an update to One UI 8 in August 2025, taking place “later in the year.” That promise has come true, and Samsung stuck to its word regarding timing with little time left in the year. We’re expecting more devices to see Samsung’s build of Wear OS 6 soon, though there is little information to go on.

One UI 8 Watch based on Wear OS 6 should begin rolling out to the Galaxy Watch 7 in more regions in the coming days and weeks.
