Santiago Beltrán is quickly becoming a key figure for River Plate in 2026. Despite a somewhat inconsistent start to the year for the team during the final stages of Marcelo Gallardo’s tenure, the young goalkeeper has stepped up in a big way.
Beltrán seized the opportunity presented by two injuries to Franco Armani, and has already demonstrated a composure that belies his 21 years and limited first-team experience. He’s quickly establishing himself as a reliable presence in goal for one of South America’s biggest clubs.
Beltrán está pasando por un gran presente en el arco de River.
Beltrán earned a call-up to the Argentina national team in October 2025, serving as a sparring partner alongside established goalkeepers Dibu Martínez, Gerónimo Rulli, and Walter Benítez. His rise hasn’t been without challenges, having recovered from a torn ACL in September 2024. Now, previously unseen footage has emerged of Beltrán making impressive saves even before joining River Plate.
