Sabrina Carpenter to Host and Perform on Saturday Night Live This Weekend
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter will pull double duty this Saturday, October 18, as both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
A promotional video released today playfully positions Carpenter as her own version of Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. “New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live,” Carpenter says in a voiceover mimicking the iconic HBO series. The teaser features Carpenter interacting with SNL cast members, responding to questions with lines reminiscent of the show, including a shout-out to “Mr. Big” directed at cast member Marcello Hernández.
Hernández is already familiar with Carpenter’s work, having starred as Domingo in a popular sketch set to her song “Espresso.” Carpenter even appeared in a follow-up sketch earlier this year. Another promotional video released ahead of the episode shows Carpenter joking about arresting someone for being “too hot,” referencing lyrics from her song “Juno” and playfully arresting Hernández himself during a concert last year – this time, she jokingly arrests the show’s cameraman. This appearance comes as Saturday Night Live continues its 51st season, which has already featured hosts like Bad Bunny and Amy Poehler; upcoming hosts include Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser, and Glen Powell.
Carpenter’s dual role as host and musical guest is a significant platform for the rising star, potentially boosting her visibility as she continues to promote her latest music. SNL’s season 51 is known for its viral sketches and influential platform for musical artists, as detailed by NBC. Further details about the episode, including specific sketch plans, have not yet been released.
Saturday Night Live airs live coast-to-coast at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and streams on Peacock.
