Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance has announced a new system for salary payments that will directly impact government employees, establishing a fixed disbursement date and reducing the waiting period between paychecks to just 29 days for its initial implementation.

The official announcement aims to end decades of monthly uncertainty regarding payment timing, designating the 27th of each month as a permanent date for receiving financial entitlements.

The practical rollout of the system begins with the November and December pay periods. November’s salary will be disbursed on schedule, followed by December’s payment after a wait of only 29 days – a positive surprise for employees before the year’s end.

The Ministry has also implemented a system that accounts for weekends, adjusting the payment date to the preceding Thursday if it falls on a Friday, and to the following Sunday if it falls on a Saturday, ensuring a consistent cash flow.

This organizational shift is supported by advanced electronic systems, including the “Sarf” platform for government employee entitlements and the “E’temad” platform for electronic payments, to guarantee accuracy and full transparency.

The carefully timed disbursements are intended to give families exceptional planning power to manage end-of-year expenses amid current economic conditions, as part of a broader strategy to improve quality of life. The move underscores the government’s commitment to financial stability for its workforce.
