Saudi Arabia Tourism: 122 Million Visitors Expected by 2025

122 million tourists visited Saudi Arabia in 2025, solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a rising global tourism phenomenon and securing its ranking as number one worldwide in the rate of growth in international tourist revenue. The surge in tourism underscores the nation’s ambitious goals for economic diversification as outlined in Vision 2030.

The record figure represents a 5% increase over 2024, comprised of 92 million domestic tourists and 30 million international visitors. This influx propelled Saudi Arabia to 12th place globally in international tourism receipts.

Data revealed the diverse purposes of incoming visitors, with religious tourism leading at 41.5%, followed by leisure travel at 25.2%, and visits to friends and relatives at 20%. Egyptian and Pakistani nationals topped the list of the most frequent visitors, with 3.2 million and 2.8 million arrivals, respectively.

The tourism sector also experienced significant infrastructure expansion, with a 40.6% increase in licensed hospitality facilities, bringing the total to 5,622 establishments. Hotel occupancy rates averaged 49.1%. The sector now employs over one million workers, with Saudi nationals comprising 24.3% of the workforce.

Saudi Arabia offers a diverse range of tourist destinations, including religious sites (Mecca and Medina), historical locations (Diriyah and AlUla), natural attractions (the Red Sea and Asir region), and entertainment options linked to seasonal events and global festivals.

Looking ahead, ambitious projects like the “The Line” city in NEOM are central to the Kingdom’s vision. Designed as a 170-kilometer-long, sustainable vertical city, The Line aims to place all essential services within a five-minute walk, utilizing a high-speed rail system while preserving 95% of the natural environment and operating on 100% renewable energy.
