Seiko & Sega Collaborate on 65th Anniversary Watches

Seiko is expanding its line of video game-inspired merchandise with a new collaboration, this time with Japanese gaming giant Sega. The partnership marks a surprising turn for tasteful gaming collaborations, following successful ventures with other franchises.

The collaboration celebrates Sega’s 65th anniversary, a milestone for the company behind iconic consoles like the Mega Drive and Dreamcast, as well as franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Yakuza. Seiko will release two wristwatches subtly inspired by Sega’s design language.

The watches offer a way for fans to showcase their appreciation for one of gaming’s most influential companies. Both models are slated for release in October, initially exclusively in the Japanese market, and will be priced around 4,000 Swedish krona (approximately $455 USD).

The timepieces feature a Caliber 7T92 quartz movement and are available in both black and silver finishes. The dials incorporate the Sega font for hour markers, the Sega logo at the 3 o’clock position, and a silhouette of Sonic the Hedgehog on the 6 o’clock sub-dial. Each watch includes a unique serial number engraved on the case back and comes in a custom box featuring Sega’s mission statement, “EMPOWER THE GAMERS,” printed inside the lid. This collaboration highlights the growing trend of partnerships between tech and entertainment brands to tap into nostalgia and collector markets.

According to reports, the watches are made-to-order, with shipping expected in early October. This eight-month wait between purchase and delivery adds a degree of risk for those hoping to resell the limited-edition items. Previous gaming watch collaborations, such as Hamilton’s partnership with Death Stranding, have seen significant resale value, with watches retailing for $700 flipping for around $2,000 on the secondary market.
