The Director General of the Senegalese Agency for Pharmaceutical Regulation (ARP), Alioune Ibnou Abou Talib DIOUF, has been removed from his position.
The decision was one of the key outcomes of a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye approved the dismissal of DIOUF, and Aissatou SOUGOU will be taking his place.
“Ms. Aissatou SOUGOU, holder of a Doctorate in Pharmacy and a Master’s degree in Health Economics and Public Health, is appointed Director General of the Senegalese Agency for Pharmaceutical Regulation (ARP), replacing Mr. Alioune Ibnou Abou Talib DIOUF,” according to a statement released after the cabinet meeting. The change in leadership at the ARP could signal a shift in regulatory policy for the pharmaceutical sector.
