Senegal is continuing to provide assistance to thousands of families impacted by flooding during the 2025 rainy season. A new phase of financial aid has been authorized by the government for households affected by the widespread damage.
The Ministry of Family, Social Action and Solidarity announced that the support is part of a flood response mechanism funded by the World Bank through the Adaptive Social Protection Project (PAPSA). A recent disbursement of funds totaling 551.1 million CFA francs has assisted 2,778 households in the Diourbel region, including 2,400 in the city of Touba.
Payments will continue from Tuesday, February 24, to Friday, February 27, 2026, in other areas affected by the 2025 floods. The Dakar, Saint-Louis, Kaolack, Tambacounda, and Thiès regions are scheduled to receive aid during this phase.
To date, a total of 8,390 households – approximately 75,510 individuals – have received assistance nationwide. The cumulative value of aid distributed has reached 1.614 billion CFA francs, demonstrating the scale of the response to support impacted communities.
The Senegalese government stated that this program reaffirms its commitment to providing a progressive and tailored response to the consequences of the 2025 floods, whereas also strengthening social protection mechanisms for the most vulnerable households.
