An afternoon of community support took place with the Sète-based Astrid association for children with rare pulmonary-cardiac diseases.
The annual grand solidarity lottery hosted by the Sète association Astrid, which supports sick children – particularly those affected by rare infant cardio-pulmonary diseases – drew large crowds this year. Due to renovations at the Salle Brassens, the event was held at the Chai des Moulins.
550 participants
Approximately 550 participants gathered in near silence, intently focused on the announcement of the winning numbers within the impressive wine cathedral at the Quai des Moulins. Proceeds from the lottery tickets and charming handmade plush toys – including knitted octopuses – will fund projects aimed at improving the well-being of hospitalized children. Specifically, the funds will proceed towards refurbishing the aquariums in the pediatric units of the CHU Arnaud-de-Villeneuve hospital, which are known to provide comfort and reassurance to young patients.
This event highlights the importance of community support for families navigating the challenges of rare pediatric illnesses, and underscores the positive impact that fundraising efforts can have on the hospital experience for children.
