Shakira is expanding her European residency with three additional concerts in Madrid, bringing the total number of performances to six. The Colombian superstar will now perform on September 18, 19, and 20, in addition to previously announced dates of September 25, 26, and 27, according to Libertad Digital.
The concerts will take place at the Iberdrola Music venue in Villaverde, which is undergoing a transformation into what organizers are calling the “Estadio Shakira,” a theme park dedicated to her career. The ambitious project was designed by the prestigious BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group. “It will be something from another world, a production that I think has never been seen before in our country,” Shakira said, as reported by Infobae.
Each of the six days will feature an immersive experience titled “Es Latina,” lasting twelve hours from noon to midnight. This cultural and leisure event will celebrate the artist’s legacy and roots, offering fans a full day dedicated to her work, including concerts, exhibitions, talks, workshops, film screenings, gastronomy, and literature. The announcement comes as Shakira continues to dominate headlines following her highly publicized split and subsequent musical resurgence.
The “Estadio Shakira” will have a capacity of 50,000 people, covering 4 hectares within the Iberdrola Music space, Heraldo reported. Live Nation President Pino Sagliocco reiterated that the venue has previously hosted large events, such as the Mad Cool festival, and is well-equipped to handle the concerts.
The decision to proceed with the concerts at Iberdrola Music comes after the Delegate of the Government in Madrid, Francisco Martín, requested a reconsideration of the location due to safety concerns. Sagliocco stated he would not “enter into what one or another [person] says,” according to Heraldo.
Ticket details and further information about the “Es Latina” experience are expected to be released soon. The residency is part of Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” and marks a significant moment for the artist as she establishes a strong presence in the European music scene.
