The term “short man complex” is a translation of LaBeouf’s English expression. It may refer to the Napoleon complex, which typically involves short individuals with aggressive behavior, according to Merriam Webster’s dictionary.
In the interview, he also made controversial statements about gay people.
– I’m gonna be honest with you – big, gay guys scare me. I’m standing there and three gay guys are next to me and touching my leg, then I get scared. If that’s homophobic, then I am, he said.
The actor claims the violence began after the alleged victims touched him in a way that made him uncomfortable.
A judge has set bail at a total of $105,000 and ordered him to undergo drug testing and treatment. Police have video footage of the incident in which the actor is heard using homophobic slurs.
