Skoda Superb PHEV: По-мощен и икономичен хибрид | ФАКТИ.БГ

Skoda has introduced a latest plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain option for its Superb model, bolstering the liftback’s position in the European market. The updated configuration increases system output to 268 horsepower (200 kW), making it the most powerful internal combustion engine model in Skoda’s current lineup – with a caveat for station wagon enthusiasts.

To access this increased performance, buyers must opt for the liftback body style and choose either the SportLine or the ultra-luxury Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim. This move reshuffles the Superb hierarchy, positioning the PHEV above the standard 201 horsepower hybrid and giving it a stronger presence in a segment increasingly dominated by high-performance corporate electric vehicles. The decision highlights the ongoing demand for spacious and efficient vehicles in the European market.

At the heart of the upgrade is a refined 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged engine, retuned to produce 174 horsepower. When combined with a 114-horsepower electric motor and a six-speed DSG transmission, the results are notable. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h now takes 7.1 seconds, a full second faster than the standard PHEV. Top speed is electronically limited to 225 km/h. Recognizing the added power, Skoda engineers have reinforced the rear braking system. New ventilated discs with a diameter of 310 mm are significantly thicker (22 mm versus 12 mm) than standard, ensuring consistent performance during dynamic braking.

Despite the increased power, the 25.7 kWh battery remains unchanged, offering an all-electric range exceeding 100 kilometers (WLTP). For those prioritizing driving dynamics, the SportLine version sits 15 mm lower than the standard Superb, featuring a dedicated sports suspension and 19-inch “Vela” aerodynamic wheels. The exterior is devoid of chrome elements in favor of glossy black accents.

However, even with 268 horsepower, the flagship PHEV still falls short of the 2.0 TSI 4×4’s raw acceleration. As the hybrid is front-wheel drive and carries a heavy battery, it cannot match the 5.6-second 0 to 100 km/h sprint of its non-electrified, all-wheel-drive counterpart.
