Geneva is currently navigating local political challenges, but the Antigel festival is offering a striking contrast with a breathtaking performance this weekend. On Saturday, February 21st, world record-holding slackliner Nathan Paulin will walk a highline between two buildings in the Lignon district of Vernier, Switzerland. The event promises a unique spectacle, showcasing both athletic skill and artistic expression – a welcome diversion from recent local political debates.
Paulin, 33, will traverse 667 meters of open air, connecting the highest towers in the canton. Below him, an audience of 400 people equipped with headphones will look up as he makes his way across the line. They’ll hear Paulin in conversation with journalist Benoît Aymon, founder of the program “Passe-moi les jumelles,” and a group of teenagers. The soundscape for the performance will be crafted by Bernard Trontin, drummer for the band The Young Gods.
The performance highlights the festival’s commitment to offering thought-provoking and visually stunning experiences. Nathan Paulin is known for pushing the boundaries of the sport, previously setting a world record with a 2,240-meter traverse at Mont-Saint-Michel, as reported by Festival Antigel. This latest feat promises to be equally captivating, offering a moment of shared wonder and a unique perspective on the city.
