Slovak Energy Vouchers: Check Expiry Dates & What Happens If You Miss Out

BRATISLAVA – Slovakian residents who recently received energy vouchers should be aware of upcoming deadlines. The state-issued assistance, designed to help with heating costs, has a strict timeframe for redemption, after which the Slovak Post will refuse payment.

The energy vouchers, intended to offset the cost of heating, must be cashed within 45 days of the date printed on the voucher. Residents can redeem the vouchers at any Slovak Post branch. The validity period is determined by the date on the check itself, not the date it was delivered.

Failure to cash the voucher within the 45-day window could result in denial of payment. However, recipients won’t lose the funds entirely; the amount will automatically be added to their next voucher. This information was initially reported by Techbyte and subsequently confirmed by the Ministry of Economy.

The unclaimed amount will not be transferred to a bank account or require a separate application for reimbursement. Instead, it will be automatically applied to the next energy voucher issued by the state, resulting in a larger payment for the household.
