Winter Weather Lingers: Snow Possible Across Parts of Europe on Friday

A late-season cold snap is bringing the possibility of snow to several areas, with a temperature drop expected Friday, February 13, 2026. The forecast comes as much of Europe and the United States continue to experience unusually cold weather.

Northeast regions may see wet snow showers throughout the day, and conditions could become briefly slick in some areas. Temperatures will range from a high of 7°C (45°F) in the south to a low of 1°C (34°F) in the northeast.

According to the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), the northern half of the country could experience light rain or sleet overnight, transitioning to wet snow later in the north.

While most areas will be dry this evening, a moderate to strong northeasterly wind will prevail, potentially becoming strong to very strong along the coast and over the IJsselmeer. Overnight, temperatures are expected to drop to around -1°C (30°F), with a continued risk of motsneeuw (soft snow) in South Limburg.

Saturday morning will start mostly cloudy, with a chance of motsneeuw in South Limburg. Sunshine is expected to break through in the north, west, and central regions later in the morning. The wind will remain moderate from the north, but may remain strong along the coast and over the IJsselmeer.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into the weekend, with a greater chance of snow developing from Sunday. Margriet reports a high probability of snow starting Sunday.

Weeronline indicates a regional, though thin, snow cover is possible. The current conditions highlight the ongoing volatility of winter weather across the continent.
