Sonsoles Ónega presenta su nuevo libro: ‘Llevará tu nombre’
The award-winning author, Sonsoles Ónega, introduces her latest novel, ‘Llevará tu nombre,’ which travels to the late 19th century to unravel a mystery in the town of Comillas.
Sonsoles Ónega is captivating readers once again with her latest work. The celebrated author, fresh off her 2023 Planet Award win, is releasing ‘Llevará tu nombre’ (roughly translated as “It Will Bear Your Name”) on February 25th. The novel promises a compelling story set in 1882, centering around a woman accused of murder in the coastal town of Comillas.
According to reports, the story follows Mada Riva, who finds herself facing accusations and a family determined to protect their reputation at any cost. She’s forced to flee to Madrid, where she must navigate a new life and confront the challenges of a society that silences women. The novel explores themes of social class, family secrets, and the power of finding one’s voice.
Ónega has spoken about the personal connection she feels to the story, noting that the protagonist’s passion for writing resonates deeply with her own experiences. As El Mundo reports, the author described the novel as a “gift” to her readers and a way to reaffirm her commitment to writing after facing criticism following her Planet Award win. She also incorporates the figure of María Vicenta, a real-life religious figure canonized in 1975, portraying her as a modern and feminist spiritual icon.
The release of ‘Llevará tu nombre’ marks another significant moment in Ónega’s career, following the success of her previous novel, ‘Las hijas de la criada.’ The new book is already available for purchase at Casa del Libro and other retailers.
