Sony has launched its latest premium true wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM6, focusing on enhanced noise cancellation and a redesigned build. The latest earbuds, available now for $330 in Platinum Silver and Black, represent a significant upgrade over the previous generation, according to the company.
A key improvement lies in the noise cancellation capabilities, with Sony claiming a 25% reduction in noise compared to the WF-1000XM5. This advancement is achieved through the integration of a new HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3e alongside the existing Integrated Processor V2, working in tandem with four microphones in each earbud – an increase from three in the prior model. Beyond noise cancellation, Sony has also prioritized comfort and design. The WF-1000XM6 earbuds are approximately 11% smaller than the XM5s and feature a new shape designed to better fit the natural contours of the ear. Improved ventilation has also been incorporated to minimize the sensation of pressure during movement or although chewing. This focus on ergonomics reflects a broader trend in the consumer electronics industry towards prioritizing user experience.
The earbuds support Sony’s LDAC codec for high-resolution Bluetooth audio streaming and offer various Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) modes. Battery life provides up to 8 hours of music playback on a single charge, with the charging case extending that to 24 hours. The charging case also supports Qi wireless charging.
