The trailer for ‘Spider-Man: A Brand New Day’ shattered viewing records upon its digital debut on Wednesday, amassing over 718.6 million views within 24 hours.

According to Variety, the trailer for the Sony Pictures film surpassed the previous record holder, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024), which garnered 365 million views, and even exceeded its initial 8-hour total of 373 million views.

Previously, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ had broken the record set by the trailer for the previous installment in the arachnid saga, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ from 2021, which reached 355.5 million views in a day.

‘Brand New Day’ marks Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man following ‘No Way Home,’ the blockbuster that brought together previous iterations of the web-slinger – Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – and grossed $1.9 billion worldwide. The film’s success underscored the enduring popularity of the Spider-Man franchise and set high expectations for the next chapter.

The cast includes Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.

The official synopsis reveals that “four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home,’ and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.”

The superhero continues to fight crime in New York City full-time, “but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
