China Energy Investment Corporation (CHN Energy) and Tsinghua University have formalized a strategic cooperation agreement, signaling a deepened collaboration between the energy giant and one of China’s leading academic institutions. The agreement, signed on February 13, aims to support national strategic priorities and enhance partnerships between the corporate and academic sectors.

The signing ceremony took place at Tsinghua University, with Zou Lei, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Energy, leading the delegation. He met with Qiu Yong, Secretary of the University’s Party Committee, to discuss areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration. This partnership underscores the growing emphasis on integrating research and development with practical energy solutions.

According to Tsinghua University’s announcement, the agreement was signed by Yan Guochun, a member of the China Energy Party Group and Vice General Manager, and Bai Benfeng, Vice Secretary of the Tsinghua University Party Committee and Vice President.

The event was also attended by prominent figures including Gu Dazhao and Jiang Peixue, both Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. International Wind Power reported on the meeting, and signing.

China Energy, established in November 2017 through the restructuring of China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group, is a state-owned enterprise directly under the central government. CEIC data shows the company is tasked with building a world-class enterprise and improving corporate governance. The collaboration with Tsinghua University is expected to contribute to these goals by fostering innovation and talent development within the energy sector.
