Thiruvananthapuram – Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan has praised G. Sudhakaran as a just and righteous administrator, highlighting a rare display of cross-party respect in Kerala’s political landscape. The comments come as Sudhakaran’s political future remains a topic of discussion.

Satheesan stated that Sudhakaran is someone who makes decisions based on fairness and truth, without regard for political considerations. “He is a man who will consider the merits of an issue, regardless of political implications,” Satheesan said, adding that he couldn’t say the same for other CPM ministers. The remarks were made in response to questions regarding allegations that Sudhakaran did not answer a call from the Chief Minister, to which Sudhakaran reportedly replied that he hadn’t received one.

Satheesan affirmed his trust in Sudhakaran’s account of the situation. “I believe G. Sudhakaran; he is not a person who would tell a lie,” he stated. This endorsement follows earlier praise from Satheesan, who described Sudhakaran as a leader who doesn’t dilute his principles and a “righteous administrator,” as reported by Manorama Online.

The support for Sudhakaran extends to potential electoral backing. Discussions are underway within the Congress party regarding the possibility of supporting Sudhakaran if he contests as an independent candidate in the Ambalappuzha constituency, according to Manorama News. KPCC President Sunny Joseph and Ramesh Chennithala have also indicated a willingness to consider supporting Sudhakaran, recognizing him as a necessary presence in the legislative assembly.

Satheesan’s comments, initially reported on March 21, 2026, by Vachakam.com, underscore a level of political camaraderie that is increasingly rare. The situation highlights the complex dynamics within Kerala’s political alliances as parties weigh their options ahead of upcoming elections.
