Svetoslav Vutsov is attracting attention from clubs in the Netherlands and Belgium as his strong form continues. The Levski goalkeeper was previously linked with Utrecht (10th in the Eredivisie) and Twente (6th in the Eredivisie), and also drew interest from Mechelen (5th in the Jupiler Pro League).
Reports recently surfaced suggesting Atlético Madrid was also closely monitoring the 23-year-old’s performances. While those clubs initially backed away following an incident with the player during international duty, Vutsov’s recent displays have reignited their interest. Levski officials are expected to receive inquiries regarding the goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.
Levski made an excellent acquisition in Vutsov last spring. He arrived from Slavia, where he had fallen out of favor, and quickly displaced Matej Markovik as the starting goalkeeper, featuring in 11 matches. This season, he has been in goal for 29 games across all competitions, keeping 12 clean sheets.
In league play, he has recorded eight clean sheets, conceding 13 goals. In continental competition, he didn’t allow a goal in regular time during Europa League qualifying, with Apoel Beer Sheva and Braga scoring during extra time. The national team player is clearly making rapid progress, a development being noted by clubs utilizing modern scouting platforms. This prompted Utrecht and Twente to send representatives to watch him play live. A key strength of Vutsov’s game is his ability to play with his feet, and he has also shown significant improvement in claiming high balls this season.
Interestingly, Levski recently sold a goalkeeper to the Netherlands. At the start of last season, the Blues transferred youth international Plamen Andreev to Feyenoord, though he is currently on loan at Lech Poznań.
Svetoslav Vutsov is the frontrunner to be named Goalkeeper of the Year in the First League for 2025. Voting in the poll has concluded, and the results are pending announcement.
