The Swedish team secured victory in the women’s biathlon relay in Kontiolahti on Sunday, March 8, 2026, delivering a nearly flawless performance on the shooting range, according to reports from SVT Sport.

Hanna Öberg initially pulled ahead of the pack with a perfect shooting record, establishing a 30-second lead over France. However, it was her younger sister, Elvira Öberg, who ultimately sealed the win on the final leg.

The Swedish team faced a moment of concern during the first leg when there was a question of a potential disqualification for Linn Gestblom. SVT reported that it appeared Gestblom had loaded an extra round despite a clean shooting performance – a violation as it is not permitted to abandon the shooting range with a loaded weapon.

Gestblom explained that she loaded the extra round believing she had missed a target, but removed it before departing the range once she realized her shots had been accurate.
