Swedish football clubs are moving towards greater transparency in player transfers. Several Allsvenskan teams, including GAIS, IFK Göteborg, Malmö FF and Örgryte IS, have voted in favor of increased openness regarding player movements.

The decision comes as a response to growing calls for more clarity in the transfer process. This shift aims to provide fans and stakeholders with a better understanding of how deals are conducted.

GAIS, along with Djurgårdens IF and Malmö FF, were among the clubs to approve the measure. The move by Malmö FF marked a reversal of their initial position, with the board changing course during the meeting. Örgryte IS too signaled its support for increased transparency, following the lead of other clubs.

IFK Göteborg is also considering advocating for a regulated agent market, reflecting a broader discussion about the role of intermediaries in player transfers. This comes as teams navigate the complexities of the modern game and seek to establish fairer practices.

The changes are expected to foster greater trust between clubs, players, and supporters, and could potentially influence future transfer dealings within the Allsvenskan. The league confirmed the votes, signaling a potential new era of openness in Swedish football.

Looking ahead, GAIS is preparing for a busy schedule. They face Varbergs BoIS in a training match on March 10, 2026, at Valhalla IP. Further matches are scheduled against IK Oddevold (March 18), Halmstads BK (March 29), and a highly anticipated Allsvenskan opener against Djurgårdens IF on April 6 at Gamla Ullevi. The team is also preparing for a string of Allsvenskan fixtures throughout April and May, including matches against Malmö FF, BK Häcken, and Hammarby IF.

The GAIS women’s team also has upcoming matches, including a training match against Skepplanda BTK on March 13, and fixtures against IK Zenith and Qviding FIF later in the month. These matches will provide valuable preparation as the women’s team continues its season.
