A municipal employee in Tamási, Hungary, was taken into custody by authorities in a coordinated police operation on December 9. The arrest stems from allegations that the employee improperly altered inheritance records in a local estate case, according to a resident who spoke to local media.
The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, reported filing a complaint after believing they were disadvantaged by the alleged manipulation of the inheritance order. Police had reportedly been surveilling the suspect for several days before executing the arrest. At approximately 5:00 a.m. local time, officers from the National Investigation Office (NNI) used a loudspeaker to instruct the woman to exit the building with her hands raised.
“This is an official who likely would have cooperated with a summons, which makes the large-scale police operation unusual. Unless this investigation involves more than one case. Furthermore, the investigation isn’t being conducted by local police, but by the NNI, which is a specialized crime unit.”
The source added. The case underscores the seriousness with which Hungarian authorities are treating potential corruption within local government.
