Argentine tennis player Leonardo Aboian has been handed a significant suspension for match-fixing. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that Aboian will be sidelined for six years and nine months and will also pay a fine of $40,000.

The 27-year-old admitted to 30 violations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program, including the manipulation of eight matches in both singles and doubles competition, according to the ITIA.

Aboian is prohibited from playing, coaching, or attending any tennis event authorized or sanctioned by ITIA members (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association. This ruling effectively ends his current competitive career.

Currently ranked 997th in the world, Aboian previously reached a career-high of 453rd in singles in September 2022 and 229th in doubles in April 2025. He also achieved a ranking of 196th in singles on the ITF circuit.

Aboian’s last official appearance came at the Villa María Challenger in mid-September 2025, where he lost in the first round of doubles and qualified for the singles draw before falling to Facundo Bagnis. The suspension marks a dramatic fall from grace for a player who once showed promise on the international stage.

Throughout his career, Aboian earned $93,000 in prize money. He will be required to pay a fine of $15,000, with $25,000 of the $40,000 total suspended upon completion of the penalty.
