Pattaya, Thailand – Police have arrested a 20-year-old transgender woman in connection with the theft of 20,000 baht – approximately $555 USD – from a South Korean tourist. The incident highlights the potential risks faced by visitors in popular tourist destinations and has prompted a police investigation into similar cases.
Ratthaphum, likewise known as “Fuangfa,” was apprehended on March 5, 2026, in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang area following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Pattaya Provincial Court on February 26, 2026, according to Pattaya Mail. She is facing charges of nighttime robbery causing harm to another person.
The alleged theft occurred on February 24, when 46-year-old South Korean national Mr. Kim and a friend invited three transgender individuals to a private pool villa in Huai Yai, Banglamung district, Chonburi. During the gathering, Mr. Kim discovered that cash was missing from his bag.
According to police reports, Fuangfa allegedly created a disturbance at the villa, “shouting, throwing objects, and appearing mentally unstable” before fleeing the scene. MSN reports that during questioning, the suspect confessed to taking the money after spotting a large sum of cash.
Pol. Lt. Col. Prabda Suksuntharee and Pol. Lt. Col. Apichart Jarurak of the Pattaya Tourist Police led the investigation and subsequent arrest. Fuangfa was brought back to the Pattaya Tourist Police office for questioning before being transferred to Huai Yai Police Station for further legal proceedings, as detailed in Thailand TV News.
