The Story
The plot subverts the isekai genre, following Emi, a young woman who reincarnates into the body of Remilia, the antagonist of her favorite otome game. Determined to avoid the tragic fate of a beloved character, Emi uses her knowledge of the game world to win everyone over with kindness. However, she soon discovers that the game’s heroine is also a reincarnated person, who actively sabotages her efforts and threatens to shatter her spirit.
It’s at this breaking point that the true Remilia, who had been silently observing from within her own body, regains control. Moved by Emi’s efforts, the genuine villainess decides to unleash a meticulous and elegant revenge against the heroine and the prince for hurting the person she now cherishes in this new world.
The original story, written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki, began its digital publication in 2020 and was later released in physical format by publisher Ichijinsha in 2021. A manga adaptation illustrated by Shiraume concluded its six-volume run in June 2025, with a total of over 4 million copies in circulation. The popularity of light novels and manga adaptations continues to drive anime production, expanding the reach of these stories to a wider audience.
