Three Dead Following Series of Residential Fires in Fukuoka Prefecture
A series of devastating residential fires across Fukuoka Prefecture left three people dead on April 7, 2026, as emergency crews battled blazes in both Kitakyushu and Kurume. The incidents highlight the sudden and severe danger of urban house fires and the critical need for rapid emergency response.
In Kitakyushu, officials recovered two bodies from the ruins of a residence. While the identities have not been formally confirmed, early reports suggest the victims may have been a couple in their 70s. A third individual from the scene was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
A separate tragedy occurred in the Nonaka-machi area of Kurume City, where a house fire completely destroyed a home. Following the blaze, emergency responders discovered the body of an individual of unknown gender within the wreckage.
The string of fires across the prefecture resulted in three total fatalities. Fire departments were dispatched to a building fire in the Kogane 2-chome area of Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu, which was reported around 11:04 AM on April 7.
