Hungarian singer Tóth Gabi has revealed a life-threatening medical crisis she faced at age 18, a diagnosis that initially led doctors to believe she would be unable to have children.
The singer recently discussed her experience as a guest on the podcast Másik Oldal, telling host Kárász Róbert about the emergency, five-and-a-half-hour surgery she underwent. Despite the prognosis, Tóth Gabi is now a mother to Hannaróza Mária, born in 2019, whom she shares with former husband Krausz Gábor.
The surgery was required due to a ruptured, soccer ball-sized ovarian cyst, according to reports. Reflecting on the period, the Megasztár alum described her feelings:
“She was a hard-won baby, I didn’t even count on the fact that she would be a part of my life,” Tóth began, before elaborating on why she felt that way when prompted by Kárász.
“On paper, I am considered infertile. I had a serious, life-saving surgery when I was 18 years old, after which, unfortunately, the doctors diagnosed me as such. I buried that part of myself. […] I went for regular check-ups. Without organs, it would have been difficult to medically confirm that there was even a small chance of this happening.”
The singer explained she chose to share her story as of its impact on her faith. “I’m only telling this story because it greatly strengthened my connection with God and brought me closer to my faith,” she said. “I was always a strongly religious person, because my whole family has a positive mindset, but when God looked down on me and gave me what I thought I couldn’t have, what is that if not divine providence? The realization that I could hold my own child in my arms and place them on my chest, to bring them into the world, was such a divine miracle to me that I still can’t forget God’s love. It’s there every day, and when I look at Hanni, it’s there in my child.”

The heartfelt post underscored the profound impact Hannaróza has had on her life.
