President Donald Trump has appointed a number of prominent U.S. Tech leaders to his President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. The move signals a closer relationship between the administration and Silicon Valley, a shift from Trump’s first term.

“The United States has the opportunity to lead the world in AI. I am honored to join the President’s Council and work with other industry leaders to facilitate make that happen,” Zuckerberg said in a statement to AFP. The appointments, announced on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, come as the administration seeks guidance on navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and other key technologies.

The PCAST, which dates back to the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, serves in an advisory capacity, providing reports and recommendations to the President but lacking regulatory or law enforcement powers. Previous iterations of the council have addressed a wide range of issues, from pandemic preparedness to quantum computing and clean energy.

The newly formed council will be co-chaired by David Sacks, the White House AI and crypto czar, and Michael Kratsios, a technology investor who previously served as the U.S. Chief Technology Officer during Trump’s first term (2017-2021). Other appointees include Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen, former Oracle CEO Safra Catz, Dell Technologies founder and CEO Michael Dell, Oklo co-founder and CEO Jacob DeWitte, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam, entrepreneur and investor David Friedberg, physicist and University of California, Santa Barbara professor John Martinis, Commonwealth Fusion Systems CEO Bob Mumgaard and AMD CEO Lisa Su.

According to a press release from the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the PCAST “brings together the Nation’s foremost luminaries in science and technology to advise the President and provide recommendations on strengthening American leadership in science and technology.” The council will focus on the “opportunities and challenges” that emerging technologies present to the American workforce, with the goal of securing U.S. Leadership in what the administration terms the “Golden Age of Innovation.”

The growing ties between the Trump administration and the tech industry have begun to draw political scrutiny, with recent polls indicating that Americans believe large tech companies wield too much influence in Washington. The White House indicated to The Wall Street Journal that, under Trump’s leadership, the PCAST will concentrate on the “opportunities and challenges” that emerging technologies present to the American workforce.
