U.S. President Donald Trump stated Friday evening that Iran “is totally defeated” and “wants a deal” that he is unwilling to accept, as conflict continues in the Middle East.
“The Fake News Media hates to report the tremendous success of the American military against Iran,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Iran is totally defeated and wants a deal, but not a deal that I would accept.”
The President’s comments followed his assertion that U.S. Forces had conducted significant strikes against military targets on Kharg Island, a location housing critical Iranian oil infrastructure. Trump also announced that the Navy would soon begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
As U.S. Strikes continue, Tehran has launched a new wave of missiles and drones against Israel and its Gulf neighbors. This occurred on the same day that several senior Iranian officials participated in an anti-U.S. Demonstration. The escalating exchange raises concerns about a wider regional conflict.
Iran’s chief diplomat stated this week that negotiations are off the table and attacks will continue as necessary. “I don’t think dialogue with the Americans will ever be put back on our agenda,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told PBS News.
