Trump Calls for Netflix to Remove Board Member Rice

Former President Donald Trump is calling on Netflix to remove Susan Rice from its board of directors, following comments she made regarding potential repercussions for corporations that aligned themselves with him during his presidency. The demand, made on Saturday, February 21, 2026, comes as corporate accountability continues to be a point of contention in the evolving political landscape.

Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences.” He further characterized Rice as lacking “talent or skills” and a “Purely a political hack!” adding, “HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what???”

The call for Rice’s removal stems from her recent appearance on the Preet Bharara podcast, where she discussed the potential for accountability measures against companies that she believes “took a knee to Trump.” Rice warned that these corporations may face consequences if Democrats regain power, suggesting they underestimated the potential for a shift in political sentiment. The Hollywood Reporter details her concerns about corporations anticipating a reversal of fortune.

“For those that decided that they would act in their perceived very narrow self interest, which I would underscore as very short-term self-interest, and seize a knee to Trump, I think they are now starting to realize, ‘Wait a minute, this is not popular. Trump is not popular,’” Rice said on the podcast. She added that companies who aligned with Trump may be “caught with more than their pants down” and “held accountable” by incoming administrations.

Netflix has not yet publicly responded to Trump’s demand. Deadline reported that a Netflix spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.

The situation highlights the increasing scrutiny faced by corporations navigating a politically charged environment, and the potential risks associated with aligning with specific political figures or parties. The former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and national security advisor, Susan Rice, joined the Netflix board in 2024.

The Hill also covered the story, emphasizing Rice’s warning about an “accountability agenda” if Democrats were to win future elections.
