Trump Threatens Iran Over Qatar Attacks & Gas Field

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the United States could “totally destroy” Iran’s largest natural gas field should Tehran continue attacks against Qatar, according to CNN.

The statement from the former president came after Iran launched attacks in response to an Israeli strike on South Pars, the world’s largest natural gas field.

“Israel, very angry about what’s happening in the Middle East, struck a very important oil field, known as South Pars, in Iran,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He emphasized that the United States was reportedly unaware of the strike, as was Qatar.

“Unfortunately, Iran did not know this and unjustly attacked part of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas infrastructure,” he said.

On Wednesday, Iran pledged “decisive” retaliation for the death of security chief Ali Larijani and launched a barrage of rockets toward Israel, which stated it killed him in an airstrike.

The Iranian rocket barrage, which landed near a commercial center in Tel Aviv, resulted in two fatalities. Countries in the Persian Gulf intercepted rockets and drones heading toward targets, including U.S. Bases in the region.

The exchange escalates tensions in an already volatile region, raising concerns about a wider conflict. Follow the latest developments in Iran with Lrytas.
