Trump Warns of Attack on Iran’s Gas Field Amid Escalating Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with a “massive” bombardment of the South Pars gas field, the world’s largest, if attacks on Qatari gas facilities continue. The escalating rhetoric comes as regional tensions surge following a series of retaliatory strikes between Iran and Israel, raising concerns about a wider conflict and potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

According to reports, Trump stated on his social media platform that the United States had no prior knowledge of an Israeli attack on South Pars. He also asserted that Qatar was not involved in, or aware of, the strike. “Israel will not be attacking the South Pars gas field again,” Trump wrote, adding that a U.S. Response would be swift and devastating should Iran continue to target Qatar’s energy infrastructure. “If Iran continues to attack Qatar’s gas industry, the USA will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at a strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”

The threats follow recent Iranian attacks on Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, a key facility for the production and shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Qatari officials reported that the attacks caused “extensive damage” and significant fires at several LNG plants. These attacks came after Israel reportedly bombed petrochemical facilities near Asaluyeh, Iran, which is also home to the South Pars gas field.

The South Pars field, shared by Iran and Qatar, is critical to Iran’s energy security, providing a substantial portion of the country’s electricity, and heating. The field’s importance underscores the potential consequences of any military action targeting it.

Saudi Arabia has also condemned Iran’s attacks on neighboring Gulf states, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan warned that Iran’s actions would lead to further isolation. These developments highlight the growing regional instability and the potential for a broader escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

In a separate development, Israel’s air force has reportedly attacked targets in northern Iran for the first time since the start of the conflict, focusing on targets associated with Iranian leadership, according to army statements.
