Iran has dismissed a ceasefire offer from the United States aimed at ending weeks of escalating conflict. The response from Teheran signals a continued hardline stance amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated that the U.S. Is “only negotiating with itself,” according to the Associated Press.

Zolfaghari made the remarks in a video statement broadcast on Iranian state television on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

“The strategic power you used to talk about has turned into strategic failure,” Zolfaghari said in the statement directed at the U.S.

“A country that claims to be a global superpower should have gotten out of this mess if it was capable. Don’t disguise your defeat as a deal. The era of your empty promises is over,” he added.

Zolfaghari further mocked the U.S., asking, “Has your internal conflict reached a point where you are negotiating with yourselves?”

The statement came shortly after the Trump administration sent a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran, mediated through Pakistan.

“Our first and last word remains the same as it has been from day one, and will continue to be: People like us will never make peace with people like you. Not now, not ever,” Zolfaghari stated.

U.S. Presents 15-Point Ceasefire Plan to Iran

The offer of a ceasefire was first reported by the Latest York Times, which cited two Washington officials familiar with the proposal. Pakistan has offered to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Teheran.

Details of the 15-point plan have not been publicly released.

Channel 12, an Israeli news outlet, reported, citing three sources, that the U.S. Is seeking a one-month ceasefire to discuss the 15-point plan. The report indicated the U.S. Proposal includes dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, ending support for proxy groups, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
