Turkish cigarette manufacturer British American Tobacco (BAT) has implemented price increases across its product lines, following similar moves by Philip Morris and JTI, according to reports on February 18, 2026.

The price hikes, which went into effect on February 19, 2026, have pushed the cost of the least expensive BAT cigarette to 100 Turkish Lira, while the most expensive brands now retail for 115 Lira. This latest adjustment reflects ongoing inflationary pressures within the Turkish tobacco market.

Erol Dündar, President of the Tekel Bayileri Yardımlaşma Derneği (Turkey’s Association of Licensed Retailers), confirmed the price increases for BAT products. The move comes after previous adjustments made by JTI and Philip Morris, signaling a broad-based trend of rising cigarette prices in the country. NTV reports that the price of the cheapest product reached 100 TL.

The price increases are likely to impact consumers and retailers alike, as demand for cigarettes remains relatively stable despite rising costs. Onedio details the recent developments in the Turkish cigarette market.

BAT’s decision to raise prices underscores the challenges faced by tobacco companies in navigating economic headwinds and maintaining profitability. The company’s move is consistent with a global trend of increasing tobacco taxes and regulations, which are designed to discourage smoking and generate revenue for governments. Habertürk provides further details on the price adjustments.
